Tom James is an artist and writer, living in London, UK. He creates participatory projects where real people can learn real skills, imagine new ways of living, and get their hands dirty to give them a try. For the last five years, his work has mainly been concerned with the climate emergency, and how to act in and against the miserable future we’re creating for our children.

Tom’s work has been featured across the British press, whilst his cult fanzine about Sheffield, 'GO!', is part of the permanent collection of the V&A.

Tom is a trustee of Metroland Cultures, an arts charity that helps make culture with, for and about the people of Brent. From 2012 - 2019, Tom was part of Spacemakers, a utopian regeneration agency, which aimed to get inside the machinery of urban regeneration, and use it for good instead of evil.
